What aspect of a listening room is most important to YOU?

All custom designs tailored for individual needs.

Is isolation imortant? 2 channel or home theater? How many people do you need to have seated? What should the room look like? Have you thought about costs?

At Rives Audio, all we do are the designs. We start by listening to your needs, because every client has a different threshold and needs for aesthetics, budget, and sonic benefit. We design every room in a custom fashion to acheive the right set of goals for each client.

We do not sell the acoustical treatment. All we sell are the designs, so we have NO incentive to fill a wall with sound absorbing panels--unless that's what will achieve the best sound. Usually it's a combination of many items. Some may be pre-fabricated, while others may be entirely custom designed for building on site.

Our designs can range from the purpose built dedicated home theater, to the very stealth listening/family room where all the acoustical treatment is hidden.

Whether you work with us at level 1, our entry level at around $1,000 or at level 3 or our new professional level for recording studios, the value of our designs can not be matched. You will get more out of your equipment than you ever thought possible with a well designed room.

Chris Huston, Vice President Acoustical Engineering Services

Chris Huston has recently been appointed as Vice President, Acoustical Engineering. This month we have a special web page dedicated to Chris' background. Please go to this page to hear Chris speak of some of his experiences.

Chris began his professional musician life as the lead guitarist in a group called "the Undertakers." From his experience, though successful, brought him ambitions of becoming a producer. To do this, he began as a recording engineer and discusses what it was like to record in the 60s and 70s as compared to recording today.

Chris engineered and produced over 80 gold and platinum albums in his career. He did all of Eric Burden and WAR, and many greats such as: Led Zeppelin Patti LaBelle, Van Morrison, James Brown, and the Who.

As a recording engineer Chris learned about sound production and how it interacted within a room. The studio he was with, Talent Masters, was bought by Atlantic Records. They asked Chris to improve the acoustics and this became his first exposure to studio design. That blossomed and Chris rapidly became known as one of the finest Recording Studio Designers around, including the design of the prestigeous Sound Kitchen in Nashville.

Chris continued to learn about designing and took what he knew about recording studio design and applied it to listening room and home theater designs.

Please Join me in welcoming Chris' new promotion with Rives Audio.
