The main room for Listen Up, the Rives Audio dealer for Colorado, consisted of B&W 801 Loudspeakers, Classe components, and Shunyata power cords and products.
With such fine components, it's a shame to have a hotel room deteriorate the sound. Even the finest equipment can become prey to a bad room. Below are graphs of before and after. Click on them to get a better image.
Properly calibrated rooms
Before PARC calibration we had bumps of 8-9 db. The bass sounded a bit boomy and caused a coloration through the midrange. Not at all characteristic of what these excellent components are capable. And it is all a result of the room.
Properly calibrated rooms
By properly calibrating the PARC, we were able to achieve a much flatter bass response. The bass no longer had the long overhang caused by the room. Not only did the bass sound tighter, the midrange became much clearer.
The Rocky Mountain Audio Fest had great live music. Both artists from Acoustic Sounds and here one of the local bands that was quite good. The acoustics of the venue could have used some improvement, but maybe that's just an occupational hazard for Rives Audio.
Rives Audio had a booth with several plan sets out for review. We also gave several lectures on acoustics. Overall an excellent show.
We would like to thank all those that helped organize RMAF for a fabulous show. This is what an audio show should be--FUN.
